Mr. Paul J. Wiedefeld, A.A.E. - Biography
Mr. Wiedefeld has 30 years of public and private sector transportation management experience.
Paul currently serves as CEO of the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, where he is responsible for the planning, operation and management of BWI, which served a record 22.7 million passengers in 2012.
Paul previously served as BWI's CEO from 2002 until 2005, where he managed the largest expansion in the Airport's history. During this period he managed the design and construction of a 26 gate terminal for Southwest airlines; an 8,400-space parking garage; and a modern consolidated rental car facility. Mr. Wiedefeld also transformed the airport's food, beverage and retail offerings to the highly successful AIRMALL concession program.
Prior to returning to BWI, Paul served as Administrator of the Maryland Transit Administration, the 10th largest transit system in the United States.
In the private sector, Paul has ten years of business and project management experience with the international transportation engineering firm, Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB). While with PB he served as Director of the firm's Aviation Consulting practice, which provides comprehensive airport planning, finance, environmental, design and construction management services across the country.
Paul received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Towson University and a Master's degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University.
